You Too

It is March 2020. Covid-19 is hitting the US and Canada. Fear is rising and we are seeing less of each other. 

What else is being affected? What else must deal with this virus? I stride down the Kettle Valley Railway path in search of connection. 

I find it in the mountains, the sun, trees, sky, the cliffs, and path. The path which leads me into wildness also leads me towards other people and dogs out enjoying their (unexpected) time off and though we didn’t chat we smiled. Realization sinks in with a deep breath: my life may be changing but the sun will rise tomorrow and set. The mountains will remain a solid existence, their presence surrounding my home. A smile establishes a link.
