Helianorns

On Friday, neighboring sunflowers stretched their leaves to my fingers, their seed heads filling my opened palm. Bound in humanity. Bounded in landscape. And bound to be in cyanotype.

Pressing into my space, leaning into my future these sunflowers are reaching out, catching sunlight.

Norns are mythical beings of destinies. The idea of norns entangles future, past, present, of time circling.

The cyanotype process must show. The edges bind the helianorns to reality, to the sunflower, to its previous and present landscape, and to me through the brushstrokes. As the sunflowers drop their seeds, the cyanotypes on the wall bear witness to the fates, to time paused yet passing, and to the gardening shears.
